What is the standard road bike tire size when entered into a bike copmuter?
Does 181 seem like a logical size? That was the one 3 digit number I found on the tire that could be entered into the bike computer when setting it.

I would suggest downloading the instructions from the manuf. web site. It will give you the method to use to calculate your tire size. It’s usually the circumference of the outside of the tire in centimeters.
You can enter a “standard” number but it will have some degree of error. You can get closer if you factor in the tire width marked on the sidewall (usually a 23-25mm tire). 700c is the normal higher grade tire size for road bikes although cheaper bikes come in as 27″. The most accurate way is to get a tape measure and measure the diameter of you tire, from the middle of the hub to the edge of your tire. Convert that number into millimeters. Enter that number in the computer to get as much of a true reading as you can get.
You’d better check the manual for your computer, or Google search the model of computer to find it online. Some models have you input the radius, some want the diameter, and others (like mine) want the circumference. For instance, my tires are 700×23C, and the number I input into my computer is 2096.
You should measure the radius of your tire. Different tires will provide different numbers. That’s the way to make it more precise. Put the tire with the valve and mark a spot, and move forward and see where the valve reaches the ground again, and measure that distance. Check how to input those numbers in the user manual.
No, “181″ is too small for a road bike tire. The average 700c x 23mm road bike tire, when inflated, is about 2090mm to 2100mm in circumference, which is what cyclometers use to measure speed.
On your cyclometer, you can only input three digits, so it wants the measurement in centimeters. Try inputting 209 or 210 for a more accurate reading.
