I was in need of a bicycle computer with these basic functions: Current speed, average speed, trip distance and total traveled distance (odometer).I went to my local bike shop and told the salesman what I needed. He, of course, tried to sell me the most expensive model with some functions that I didn’t even know what they were for. In the end, after a hypnotic sale, I ended up convinced that I needed a wireless computer with not only the features mentioned above, but also one that measures altitude, temperature and heart rate.
I bought it, but I decided to make a little more research, returned the Sigma and I bought the Cateye Strada from Amazon.
At first I was surprised by how small it is (about 1.5″ x 1.25″), but after installation, I think it’s the right size. The installation was very simple, no tools required at all. The menu navigation is not intuitive, and required me to do something that I dread deeply: Read the manual! After all of three minutes reading it, I set the wheel size (following a chart provided in the manual) and I was ready to go.
This computer shows current speed (in mph or kph), average speed, maximum speed, trip time, trip distance, total traveled distance (odometer) and a clock.
Before my daily trip I reset all the values to zero by pressing on the face of the computer for two seconds (the odometer doesn’t reset since it keeps the accumulative count of your trips) and I get the counts for my daily workout.
Also, one neat feature is that the odometer is programmable, so you can input your odometer reading when you have to change the battery.
So far, I’m very satisfied with this computer. Very precise, slick, and does a great job. Amazon did a good job with the delivery as well.

I’ve used Cateye bike computers for several years. I like a simple wired computer because the wireless ones use two batteries (more to go wrong) and sometimes pick up false readings from things like power lines or neon signs. The Strada has a nice bracket that can work either on the handlebars or the stem and you can install it without tools. You do have to read through the instructions to figure out the right calibration number for your wheel size but once you have the computer set-up the operation is pretty straight-forward. You toggle through the computer modes with a single button press. So far, the Strada seems weather-proof.

It is my 2nd cateye cycling computer. It’s inexpensive, durable and easy to use. Been using this for 2 months now for my bike commute to work every day. Worked very well even when it was 25F or when it was soak from thee rain.
I like large display and the no-button design.
What I would have a preferred is to have an average cadence reading.

As an avid commuter cyclist I put on 4000km/year in all kinds of weather. I’ve used several computers but this is my favourite so far. The feature I like best is that you operate it without buttons–just press the face to switch between modes. The toolless mounting is also very handy. But what drove me to write this review is the experience I had today. Biking in the dark at -10C I took a spill in a snowy patch on the road. I didn’t notice until I got to work that my Strada was missing. But on the way home I found it, face down in the middle of the snowy icy road with car tire tracks right over it. Picked it up, wiped off the snow, and it’s working as good as new.
My only beef with it is that the plastic handlebar mount can become brittle in the cold and break. In fact that’s likely why it fell off in the first place, as the mount had broken the previous week and was holding it loosely. I wish the mount was made of metal, but as far as I can see every computer on the market uses plastic mounts.

After spending a bit of time comparing various bicycle computers, I opted for this one. It offered all of the feature I required and comes from a reputable company.
Yes, it took a while to install, but most bicycle computers take a while to install due to the small pieces, magnets, etc. Par for the course, eh?
The only thing missing is some type of lighting so the computer display could be read at night – for those of you who ride in the dark regularly. I don’t ride at night, though, so not a huge issue for me.
Finally, the one-button operation makes this computer simple and easy to use — especially while riding.

I recently bought a new bike, and rather than transfer my older model Cateye, I bought this upgrade model. I normally take an 8-mile ride on my hybrid bike 2 – 3 times per week. Basically, I want to know how fast I’m going and how far I’ve travelled. I bought this Cateye because it also tells me how many calories I’ve burned. It also gives the time, total distance, maximum speed, average speed and elapsed time.
It is very easy to install and set-up (no tools required), as well as simple to operate. Even if you do more intense riding, this device should exceed your expectations. You get a lot for the price.

I’ve had the bike computer for about a month and have been very happy thus far. The instructions for installation weren’t the best, but if you take your time, you should be up and running relatively quickly. It’s easy to scroll through the readouts and reset for new trips. I don’t have any problems reading the display except at night (but I rarely ride my bike at night).
I’m only giving it 4 stars because the brackets for holding the computer and sensor seem a little cheap. Similar models have a plastic bracket to hold it in place, while this model does not. However, I usually ride on a limestone path and haven’t experienced any problems with the sensor or computer staying in place.

This unit was very easy to install and set up. It took less than 20 minutes from package to operation. Based on mile markers on trails, the units accuracy is within .01 miles per mile ridden. Continues to work well on rough trails.

I have had this item for a few weeks. The distance accuracy is very good, I compared it by using a car, and [...] right on the money. I assume the timing aspect is accurate, so the speed indicated should be right on as well.
I got this particular model because of the estimated calorie consumption. I am not sure what formula they use, but it seems pretty accurate, and the results tend to agree with various tables and formulas I have seen on the internet for “Calories used while bicyling”.

Got this for my new bike. It’s wired and a breeze to install with the included zip ties. If you’re having issues with the installation go to the cateye website, where there are better instructions than what are included. Only reason I didn’t give this 5 stars is because the unit is smaller than I expected and it’s hard to read the smaller letters while you’re riding. Other than that, it works as advertised.
